  • Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G ED VRII Lens | LONG TERM REVIEW

I’ve had this Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G ED VRII lens for over 7 years. I have used this Nikon 70-200mm lens regularly on my Nikon D750 and D850 cameras for things like portrait, landscape, wildlife and low light photography. Since I bought this lens there has been another model Nikon 70-200mm F mount come out and also the Nikon Z mount version too. Both of the new lenses are very good. So why didn’t I sell this model 70-200mm lens and upgrade? In this Nikon 70-200mm lens review video you’ll see why.

During this Nikon 70-200mm lens review, I show shots I’ve taken including landscape, travel and portrait. I’ve found this lens very sharp, sharper than my beloved Nikon AF-S 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 VR lens.

  • BEST Travel Tripod 2022 | Just BRILLIANT!

I think this is the best travel tripod I’ve ever used! The Ulanzi and Coman Zero Y carbon fibre travel tripod is light weight, packed full of features. It even comes with spikes you can change out the rubber feet for. This tripod has definitely become part of my light weight landscape photography kit that I take on long hikes or for travelling overseas.

I know from the many years of experience travelling, having a light weight photography set up is like gold! You don’t feel like a pack mule going up some mountain side to catch an epic sunrise. And you don’t wake up in the morning at your destination feeling like your lower back has gone twelve rounds with Rocky Balboa!

  • Nikon D850 & Z50 | Moon Eclipse | 8 November 2022

Nikon D850 & Z50 photos and 4K video of the moon eclipse as seen from Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. Pretty amazing to watch it all unfold and we were lucky the moon eclipse started and ended in this part of the world at a reasonable hour. The November 8 moon eclipse is the last full moon eclipse we’ll see until 2025.

Check out my video below showing the November 8 moon eclipse unfold. Just such a shame the clouds came into the shots a little later on during the eclipse. Both the D850 and Z50 performed really well on the night. I mainly used the Z50 for the 4K video which I was able to crop in on. I used the D850 for the stills side of things. Just like clockwork the eclipse started at 7pm and the full eclipse covering the moon started at 8:15pm. I meant to say the reason why the moon goes red during these eclipses is because as the sun’s rays come through the Earth’s atmosphere it casts that colour shadow onto the moon.

  • Nikon Z50 Bird Photography | My Settings & Technique!

In this Nikon Z50 bird photography video I explain my settings and technique. Recently I had made another video using the Z50 for bird photography, but was having troubles and issues with certain factors, including focus. I made some changes and adjustments on the Z50 and now I can capture birds more efficiently and have a higher keeper rate.

The Nikon Z50 for bird photography certainly isn’t in the same class as the Nikon Z9, Canon R5 or Sony A1. But if you change some settings and adjust your style and technique, it can get some really cool results.

  • Nikon Z 600mm F4 TC VR S | The BEAST!

Nikon have now announced the much anticipated Nikon Z 600mm F4 TC VR S lens! To top things off Nikon have thrown a little curve ball by adding a 1.4 teleconverter which sees the lens go to 840mm at F5.6. This is now Nikon’s fourth super telephoto prime lens they’ve added to their Z lens line up. How many Nikon Z 600mm F4 lenses will you be ordering?

Obviously this lens is meant for your pro level sports and wildlife shooters. And I’m sure 99.9% of the photographers buying this lens will already own the Nikon Z9. It will certainly be a powerful combo! I could just imagine how handy that 1.4 teleconverter will be with the likes of bird, surfing, motor sport etc. You do lose one stop of light, but still, at 840mm @ F5.6 is still crazy impressive!

  • Topaz Denoise AI Tutorial | Is It Really Worth Getting?

In this Topaz Denoise AI tutorial I cover what the program offers and how it can make a dramatic difference to your images. The Denoise AI really is super impressive and will save you a lot of time in post processing. I mainly this program as a plug in for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, but you can use it as a stand alone.

During the Topaz Denoise AI tutorial I remove noise easily from two landscape and bird photography examples. It really is super fast and pretty incredible the way it does it.

  • Nikon Z50 + Tamron 70-300mm Z Review | It’s GREAT, BUT…

In this video I pair the Nikon Z50 with the new release Tamron Z 70-300mm 4.5-6.3 Di III RXD lens. It certainly takes some amazing images in the right light, BUT I have just one issue with it. That issue can be sorted pretty easily though. Because of the Z50 1.5 crop factor, the lens transforms into 105mm to 450mm. This comes in very handy in a lot of situations where you need that bit of extra reach. Things like travel, landscape, bird and wildlife photography.

Given the Tamron Z 70-300mm is relatively low budget, I think this maybe a very good light weight and compact telephoto alternative for those with Nikon crop sensor cameras. So for hiking or jetting around the world and wanting to keep weight down, this Nikon Z50 + Tamron 70-300mm Z lens combo might be ideal.

  • Nikon Z50 Bird Photography | GOOD or GARBAGE?

I took the crop sensor Nikon Z50 with my Nikon AF-S 80-400mm G ED VR lens via the FTZII adaptor out to do some bird photography. This was an experiment to see how the Z50 would perform photographing birds. The results I got were a bit of a mishmash and I share them in this video.

I was surprised with some of the photos I got with this Nikon Z50 Bird Photography session. But there were times I got some photos sharp in focus and then others out of focus (sometimes the very next frame in a sequence). So I did some static tests back in my garden and found everything was ok with the lens etc. The next thing I want to try is some different settings on the camera in a few weeks to see how I go. I’ll make another video on that.
